We want poetry that brings meaning to our lives.
We want poetry that helps us understand.
But we don’t want poetry that we can’t understand.
We want poetry that makes us think.
But we don’t want poetry that we have to think too much about.
We want poetry that cuts to the heart.
We want to believe that everything, even our everyday, has meaning.
We want to believe there is a connection that links us all.
We want to believe things happen for a reason.
We want to believe we’re all part of something bigger.
We want to believe there is something deeper than what we can see on the surface.
We want to believe there is something that unites us all.
A common experience.
A common goal.
A common interest.
A common faith.
A common purpose.
That we are all in this together.
That we all have a part.
That there is meaning, even in the unpredictability and chaos around us.
When we want poetry, we don’t want to have to jump through hurdles to find it. We need it to be there, waiting for us, and ready to give us meaning in our lives.
